Our Story
A Home Built on Faith and Family
Freedom House Foundation was founded in 2003 by the late Rev. Priscilla Abena Andoh, together with her husband, Bishop John Kweku Andoh, after the couple encountered two children begging for alms in Doryumu, near Shai Hills — a moment that echoed Priscilla's own difficult childhood and gave her a lasting empathy for vulnerable children.
What began under a borrowed canopy grew into a registered foundation, and in 2015 the foundation acquired land in Fianko, Bawjiase, where a six-bedroom dormitory was completed in 2018 and remains home to the children today. The foundation Priscilla built continues in her memory, carried forward by her family, and has grown to include a school, soccer and dance academies, a music academy, an on-site farm, and a program equipping local widows with income-generating skills.

Our Vision
Our vision is to instill hope in those who are suffering, transform the lives of the abused, and promote positive health practices in Ghana, West Africa. We aspire to empower women, offer shelter and care to children, and contribute to the development of a thriving nation.
Our Mission
We make a positive impact on vulnerable women and children through community-based intervention — improving access to quality services and building community support. Our philosophy goes beyond aid: we believe in fostering self-sufficiency, particularly for the children, alongside the shelter and care we provide them.

Every child in our care is protected, heard, and valued. Their safety is non-negotiable.

We invest in every child's academic future because education is the surest path out of vulnerability.

Registered with Ghana's Department of Social Welfare and overseen by Bishop John Andoh Ministries. We operate openly and are accountable to our community.

How We Operate
Freedom House Foundation operates under the oversight of Bishop John Andoh Ministries, and is committed to being accountable to the children in our care, to their community, and to the government bodies that oversee our work. Any organisation entrusted with the wellbeing of vulnerable children must be willing to be scrutinised — we welcome it.

Who Monitors Us
Bishop John Andoh Ministries
Freedom House Foundation operates under the direct oversight of Bishop John Andoh Ministries, which is responsible for the foundation's governance and accountability. The foundation does not currently have a separate board of directors.
Ghana Department of Social Welfare
The home is registered with and regularly inspected by the Department of Social Welfare, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
Resident Social Welfare Officer
One social welfare officer is assigned to the home and conducts regular visits to assess the welfare of each child, reporting findings to the Department.
